The Plot Thickens, or: Jupiter Juices Uranus

Has Julian Assange made it easier for uprisings against Middle East Dictators to occur? Will other dictators take advantage of this situation? What will happen this weekend, when the sun, a full moon and Uranus meet up at the front door of the sign of Aries?

A most astounding tidbit zipped past me on the screen today.  Reuters reports that Julian Assange said his leaks of government documents, particularly the ones related to Tunisia, are responsible for spurring uprisings across the Middle East.  Then, our poster boy for Sun-Uranus asserted that the fact the cables he leaked showed the U.S. would support the military over the dictator Ben Ali, "...must have also caused neighboring countries to Tunisia some thought.  That is that if they militarily intervened, they may  not be on the same side as the United States."  Apparently he also figured that by releasing the rest of the cables about Egypt, Libya and Bahrain, he would make it impossible for the West to support the authoritarian dictators.

Does Julian Assange have that much influence?  In his head, apparently yes.  If Mr. Assange had spoken to an astrologer, though he would have found that he is in danger of making presumptuous, inflated and grandiose statements at this point in time, as Jupiter comes through to affect the positions of Uranus and the sun at the time of his birth.  Jupiter has an inflationary effect.  Yes, it can mean luck and exposure, and it can also signify braggadocio and over-confidence to the point of arrogance.  In his case, and in anyone's for that matter, the last thing an over-pumped Uranus needs is a killer dose of steroids! No matter your opinion of Assange or how accurate his self-assessment might be, it's patently obvious he is a disruptive, revolutionary, and some say, innovative force.  This is the energy of Uranus.  As we watched this planet crash the doors of the sign of Aries last weekend, there were multiple seismic events, a nuclear disaster...and increased tensions in the Middle East.

Though protests and "Days of Rage" were not as noticeable or spectacular as they had been depicted in announcements, they did  not go unnoticed in at least one of the established dictatorships, Saudi Arabia.  The Saudi police were sent out to meet potential demonstrators as they came out of their mosques, certainly deterring them from gathering and protesting as they had planned.  Meanwhile, in Bahrain, things had been heating up.  Shiite protesters were being shot at by police there, and then this week, members of the Saudi National Guard crossed over into Bahrain, probably to help keep those protesters down, and to prevent the demonstrations from spreading into Saudi Arabia. Without adding to the chorus of alarmists, I would like to offer my observations, based on what is coming this weekend.  For those of you who haven't seen the ReadTheStars weekly overviews yet, you need to know there will be a full moon this weekend, very close to where Uranus entered Aries, and then the spring equinox will take place on Sunday.  This will be followed shortly thereafter, on Monday of next week, by the sun's collision with Uranus.  This planet, with its awkward anatomical moniker (which I like to pronounce YOUR' uh nus), is a disruptive force.  If you didn't believe this before, surely you must admit the world has been changed since Uranus moved into the Wild West Saloon that is also known as the sign of Aries. When people ask me if "it's" over yet, I certainly can't say "yes."  It's going to be a very fast and furious period.  As we have just found out as Uranus entered Aries, anything can happen.  The Saudi Arabian Kingdom's astrology is closely aligned with the first degree of Aries, and as this continued intensity builds up at this point over this coming weekend, I have to wonder if that which was suppressed last week will be more difficult to contain this weekend.  We will see.

Some say the Saudis' move into Bahrain was its way of acknowledging and confronting a conflict between

Sunni and Shiite that splits the Arab world.  The Saudis are off the Sunni sect of Islam, and the country most closely identified with the Shiite sect is...Iran.  Our Scorpio "friend" there, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, would certainly be on high on my list of suspects for a force that's just sleek enough to conveniently arrange a string of chaos in the form of demonstrations throughout the Middle East. Furthermore, if you were to ask me what kind of planetary configuration would upset Saudi Arabia, I'd nominate any and all of the events that will occur this weekend, because of the involvement of Uranus.   If the Sauds, their cousins in Bahrain and the Iranian regime go at one another, we could be looking at a series of small skirmishes that could potentially morph into something much more menacing to any person or country that would prefer a calm and prosperous Middle East Region. If indeed Assange's leaking of cables inspired insurgents in key countries to begin a systematic series of protests against dictators and despots, he's been quite the catalyst.  While everyone's focused on Japan, and somewhat on Libya, there's definitely a possibility of even more chaos.  One wonders how Assange feels about the people who are dying in these conflicts,  whether he thinks he's done something good for them, or if he wonders, just like the rest of us, what will happen next.
